(ages 3-5) classes are perfect for Kindergarten and preschool-aged dancers. Dancers in Made to Move will learn about body awareness while moving to the beat of music. This class will also learn the beginning of ballet technique.
Our introductory classes are offered in a variety of styles to help build on the foundations of dance. These 45 minute combination classes are offered in the styles of ballet/tap, ballet/jazz, jazz/tap, character jazz and jazz/hip hop. All students in the Creative Kids program will perform in both our holiday showcase and year end recital.
Our Tween and Teen program offers students ages 9 and up the ability to build on the knowledge of dance in a variety of styles. All of the classes in our teen and tween program will participate in both the holiday showcase and spring recital.
The Novice program is made for dancers with some dance experience. In this class dancers will focus on strengthening their core knowledge of dance as well as adding new skills into their repertoire.
The intermediate program is by recommendation and placement only. Dancers in this competitive program have a strong sense of the basics and are ready to add more challenging choreography and technique into their repertoire.
Our advanced program is by invite or audition only. This competitive program is made for dancers with several years of dance experience. The advanced team will be required to attend a variety of competitions and performances throughout the year. Ballet is the root of all styles of dance. Proper technique, positioning & framing begins in ballet. Students will learn positioning of the feet, arms, and body through barre and across-the-floor combinations. Basic leaps, jumps and turns begin in intro level classes and become more advanced as the dancer progresses. Students will also work on musicality, posture, and flexibility.
Pre-Pointe is taken by ballet dancers aspiring to dance en pointe. Pre-Pointe helps dancers expand on ballet knowledge while focusing on technique, strengthening, and flexibility. This class is taken with soft ballet shoes in order to strengthen the ankles and feet for pointe shoes.
Pointe is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet. A dancer should never work in pointe shoes until their instructor has told them they are ready to do so. Once the dancer has demonstrated the knowledge of proper technique, alignment, balance, control, strength and flexibility a dance teacher will recommend that the student advance to pointe work.
Jazz incorporates bold dramatic body movements, body isolations and contractions. Jazz is a fast-paced style of dance with a lot of technique, which stems from ballet. Students will work on leaps, turns and jumps as well as focus on flexibility & strength. This style of dance pairs the grace and technique of ballet with the intensity & energy of faster, more upbeat music.
Lyrical combines the elements of ballet, modern, and jazz technique classes. Dances use lyrics of a song or instrumental music to inspire them to do certain movements. It uses gestures, facial expressions and controlled movements to execute emotions fully.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements and push the boundaries of what can be considered a traditional dance style.
Hip-Hop is a fun, fast-paced, high-energy class that focuses on finding your plie and the groove. This class is a great way to express individual style and personality.
Tap dance is performed with shoes fitted with metal tap plates under the balls and heels of the feet. Tap is a highly rhythmic style of dance, matching and added to music through counts and audible sounds of the metal plates.
